What do all knitters have in common? We love to knit!

We love knitting, crochet and some of us quilting. We love to get our yarn and knitting needles or crochet hooks out and whip up a cable knit sweater, gloves or a cap. Lots of us love to go to knitting classes or go searching for knitting patterns at garage or flea sales.

Me? I love to crochet flowers. I have them all over my bedroom, bathroom and even up the stairs. I also love to collect old knitting magazines stuffed with knitting and crochet patterns. Nothing thrills me more than to find a really old crochet pattern full of crochet or knitting stitches.

Resolved Question: Can Anyone Help me With Knitting?
I've just starting knitting, and can cast on fine, but when i go to do the knit stitch it becomes too tight and I can't move the needles. Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong and how to fix it?
Resolved Question: Help from experienced knitter!!!?
I'm not completely new to the knitting world (I can make a mean stockinette stitch) but I've been trying some of the patterns (ribbing, eyelets, bobbles, cables) in my knitting book and I seem to have a horrible problem with the patterns that involve using purl and knit stitches in the same row. I can do the stitches, but once I get to the next row, I can't keep going where it switches over to the other stitch. Every time I go from knit to purl, this weird X forms at the top of the stitch. What am I doing wrong??
Resolved Question: What is the best way to keep the edges of your knitting strait?
I'm working on a scarf with all knit stitches. Are there any ways to keep the edges of the scarf even? I'm not dropping or gaining any stitches, it's just not as strait as I'd like it. Also, do you know if you can block on acrylic yarn projects? I'm not concerned about the scarf loosing it's shape. Any certain techniques for that? Thanks!
Resolved Question: I cannot purl stitch!!?
I started learning how to knit the other day. I already learned cast on, and the knit stitch so my next move is the purl stitch. I tried it over and over but I just can't get it to work. I know you have to put the needle in through the right of the loop and have the right needle over the left, then make sure the yarn is in front and make a loop, then I am supposed to be able to just slip it through the loop but every time I do it just slips off. I have a book and even looked up directions online and watched videos. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Resolved Question: to knit a Christmas stocking?
I've just recently learned a few of the basics of knitting: I can cast on and do the knit stitch...but that is all. I haven't been able to master the purl stitch or anything beyond that. I'm SUPER interested in learning to knit Christmas stockings. I've looked up some instructions online, but it's all a bunch a steps that use terms that I don't understand at all, considering I only know how to cast on and knit stitch. Can someone TRANSLATE the steps into Lehman's terms for me? Or better yet, does anyone know of a video that is helpful? Anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
